Green Careers
A significant percentage of today’s students have expressed a desire to work in careers that are good for the planet. Even greater percentages have indicated that they wish to work for companies or organizations that are proactively reducing humans' impact on the environment or promoting its restoration. Given this tremendous interest, we have created Green Careers, a Website for students seeking to match their passion for the environment with a career that can make a difference.

Green Companies - Contains lists of companies and organizations that have been certified or highly recognized as being eco-friendly from multiple sources including Ceres.org, EPA’s Green Power Partnership.
Green Civic Engagement - College students are expressing their care and concern about green issues that impact our society. Students have the time, energy, intelligence, resources, and idealism to help solve challenges related to the environment. Through civic engagement, students who volunteer for green projects become part of the movement to mobilize the person power and resources necessary to invest in the environmental well-being of communities and make sustainable differences in the lives of others. NJIT provides resources for those interested in green initiatives. Students can learn more about sustainability and green events on campus. Through blogs, students share ideas, express opinions, and find others who have similar interests.

- Engineers Without Borders- a non-profit humanitarian organization that partners with developing countries to improve their quality of life, including the construction of sustainable systems. The group can be contacted at Colton Hall, Room 251.
Green Academics & Research at NJIT - Contains information and updates about the many existing and new green academic and research initiatives occurring at NJIT. At our university, some faculty and students are engaged in academic pursuits and research that center on different aspects of preserving the environment and making better use of systems already in place. Some representative projects and centers are listed below.
- TELUS, Transportation, Economic, and Land Use System: An information management and decision support system designed to help Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
- York Center for Environmental Engineering and Science: Hazardous substance management, pollution remediation, and prevention, sustainable manufacturing.
- Center for Airborne Organics: Detecting and tracing organic pollutants, preventing pollutant emissions.
- Northeast Hazardous Substance Research Center: Hazardous substance handling, reduction, assessment, and management.
- Geoenvironmental Engineering Laboratory: Solid waste management and disposal, environmental systems, wastewater treatment, site remediation.
- Laboratory for Process and Field Analytical Chemistry: On-line process analysis, environmental monitoring, portable instruments for on-site environmental measurement.
- Materials Characterization Laboratory: Elemental, organic, and structural analysis.
- NJHEPS.org - a coalition of institutions of higher education in NJ. Their vision is to inspire higher education to become models and messengers of sustainability.
- Center for Architecture and Building Science Research (CABSR) - Engages in a comprehensive program of applied research focused on the built environment and on the institutions, policies, technologies, and trends that shape it.
