AAPI ERG Executive Board Self-Nomination
AAPI ERG is seeking board positions for a term from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027.
Example Term Structure – President Role:
The President position follows a staggered structure to support leadership development and continuity:
- July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026: Serve as President-Elect (One-year term, with the option to renew or step down at the end of Year 1)
- July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027: Serve as President
- July 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027: Serve on the Advisory Board to support a smooth transition for the next President
We are seeking self-nominations for the following positions:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary/Treasurer

Self-nominations are due by the end of the day, April 16th, 2025.

AAPI ERG Executive Board Election Process
The following steps outline the process for the AAPI ERG Executive Board Elections:
- Step 1: Self-Nomination Period (April 2 – April 16, 2025)
The self-nomination form will be released on April 2, 2025, and will remain open until April 16, 2025. Candidates are encouraged to submit their nominations within this period. - Step 2: Review of Nominations (After April 16, 2025)
Following the submission deadline, the AAPI ERG Executive Board & Advisory Board will review all nominations and assess their eligibility and suitability for the positions. - Step 3: Announcement of Nominees
Approved nominees will be announced via email to the AAPI ERG community. - Step 4: Election Process (End of April – May 2025)
An election form will be released to AAPI ERG members, monitored by the Advisory Board. The voting period will last for two weeks. - Step 5: Announcement of Election Results & Start of New Term (May/June 2025)
The results of the election will be announced during a scheduled meeting. New Executive Board leaders will officially begin their tenure on July 1, 2025, marking the start of their three-year term.
Job Descriptions for AAPI Executive Board
Responsibilities
The President shall be the chief executive officer of the AAPI ERG, and shall have the authority to carry out all duties necessitated by that AAPI ERG. The President shall preside over ERG meetings and serve as the official liaison between the ERG and the Office of Inclusive Excellence. In concert with the other members of the Board, the President shall define, and may amend from time to time, the duties of the other officers of the Association. The President shall appoint all leaders of special committees with the approval of the membership. The President also represents the AAPI ERG at public meetings and events, college programs, and other authorized occasions. The President sets strategic goals with the Vice President at the beginning of the term and works with the Vice President to complete all strategic goals.
Prerequisite Qualifications
Lead or co-lead a committee at AAPI ERG, current NJIT staff/faculty/instructional staff (if candidate is ONLY a graduate student and/or undergraduate students, they are not eligible)
Preferred Qualifications
Volunteered at the AAPI ERG for at least one academic year.
Responsibilities
The Vice President shall support the President in presiding over ERG meetings and serve as a representative between the ERG and the Office of Inclusive Excellence in the absence of the President. The Vice President shall assist the President and discharge such duties as may be assigned from time to time. The Vice President oversees AAPI ERG’s committees (except Communications and Website Committee) and works with the President to complete strategic goals set by the President. In the event the President is unable to serve the entire two-year term, the Vice President will succeed to the position of President for the remaining period of the term.

Lead or co-lead a committee at AAPI ERG. Current NJIT staff/faculty/instructional staff (if candidate is ONLY a graduate student and/or undergraduate student, they are not eligible)

Volunteered at the AAPI ERG for at least one academic year.
Responsibilities
The Secretary/Treasurer shall maintain all records and meeting minutes of the AAPI ERG. and shall be responsible for sending notices and maintaining membership records. The Secretary/Treasurer is also responsible for overseeing the NJIT AAPI ERG web page, maintaining email communications and managing the Communications and Website Committee. In addition, the Secretary/Treasurer will have charge of all funds of the AAPI ERG and maintain a record of all receipts and expenditures. Finally, Secretary/Treasurer will work with Vice President on forecasting each fiscal year’s costs. The Secretary serves in the absence of the Vice President when not present.
