Transfer Story: Adrian Morocho
Transfer Story Q&A:
1) How would you describe your first academic year at NJIT?
-
My first academic year at NJIT was very challenging and exciting. Coming as an international student Transfer, it was a totally new experience focused on a very different environment. NJIT provided many new academic opportunities when I was new to college.
2) What challenges if any, did you face as a transfer student and how did NJIT help you to overcome those challenges?
-
I encountered many challenges that I faced as an international transfer student, it was getting used to a very different teaching environment and also making friends on campus. For me, this was a new challenge and experience because I started as a sophomore, and some of them already had some friendships since freshman year. In the first year at NJIT, I had to get used to it regardless of how you studied. During the semesters I was overcoming the challenge, meeting groups and clubs that help to interconnect with students from different careers.
3) Please describe your experience with NJIT classes and/or tutoring in an online, hybrid, or converged learning format?
-
My experience, in face-to-face classes or a hybrid, was enjoyable. face-to-face classes can be enjoyed more than hybrid or online classes. because you can learn better and have more interaction with the teacher and other students or classmates. As for online classes and convergent learning they are difficult and distracting but understandable. However, I made the most of online and converged learning.
4) What are your plans after graduation?
-
I plan to get a full-time job in an electrical and computer engineering company with power system mapping. Even, when I get a very high experience and create my own company that is at the forefront of the industry.
5) What advice would you give to a prospective transfer student?
-
As an international transfer student, I would recommend that all transfer students try to get involved in the clubs and chapters on campus. It will help them to be more confident and positive to progress as a student and a great professional. Joining clubs is one of the best ways to have a meaningful extracurricular experience at NJIT.
6) What is a major difference between NJIT and the previous school you transferred from?
-
As an international student, NJIT has given me many opportunities to succeed and grow as a student and professional. I can say that this is the difference with my previous college. NJIT, helped me to train ethically and independently to be successful. This gave me many opportunities to grow and will help me a lot in my plans for the future. My other university also helped me grow, but I had the opportunity to transfer to study abroad and did not miss the opportunity to explore a different environment. I am very happy that I transferred to NJIT.
7) What are the three things you like best about NJIT?
-
I like NJIT, it is the library area and group study cubes. Place where I can concentrate and do our homework and research.
-
The many clubs and chapters that NJIT has, as it is; SHPE, EWB, and IEEE of which I am a member. These clubs have helped me continue to challenge myself academically and have given me leadership in my learning.
-
I like the playground that is located in the central building of the campus. This area has a diverse and friendly environment that you can interact with students of all majors. It also helps you to release stress or any problem.
