NJIT’s updated campus master plan is a holistic guide to providing strategic growth and development for the campus. It builds upon a history of success which identified and addressed a number of needs that were essential in the growth of the University while creating a first class educational environment. In principle, the updated master plan will inform the future of the campus, and becomes a valuable tool for optimizing the function and utilization of existing and future facilities.
Without it, each decision made about our campus' facilities is done in a vacuum. Planning for new buildings, renovations and infrastructure improvements need to be carefully thought out with the bigger vision in mind. In addition, a good campus plan builds in flexibility, so that it can accommodate shifting academic priorities and changes in economic conditions.
The university engaged independent consultants to update the facilities master plan in order to ensure that the planning decisions implemented and to be implemented were focused to fulfill the NJIT 2020 Vision.
Numerous campus meetings and presentations were conducted with the campus community, including interviews with key administrative staff, to share the developing vision for the campus and to receive feedback on the plans.
