International Education Week: November 18 - 22
Welcome to International Education Week 2024: Celebrating Cultures, Expanding Horizons
Get ready for an unforgettable International Education Week (IEW) at NJIT! From November 18 to November 22, 2024, join us in a vibrant, week-long journey celebrating global perspectives, unique cultures, and international opportunities. This year, IEW promises more than just inspiring events—it brings exciting rewards for student engagement!
Special IEW Raffles and Scholarship Opportunity
Kick off on Monday, November 18, with our International Bazaar! Immerse yourself in the colors, sounds, and flavors of diverse cultures as students showcase their heritage through national attire, traditional art, music, crafts, and cuisine. And for those who come dressed in their national attire or representing their culture through art or performance, you’ll be entered in a raffle to win a $50 gift card on the same day!
Then, grab your IEW Passport—we'll be distributing them at the Monday opening event! Attend at least 4 of the 5 core events during IEW to enter our grand raffle. Your reward? A $1,500 study abroad scholarship that will be drawn at our Friday night Alumni Mixer on November 22. This grand finale event also offers a chance to connect with NJIT alumni and network with inspiring professionals.

Join us from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the CTR Atrium for a vibrant showcase of identity-based student organizations sharing their unique cultures through performances, art, crafts, music, and food. This year, we are honored to welcome President Lim, who will be joining us to share his insights and offer remarks on the importance of global diversity and unity at NJIT. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Deepesh first visited the United States as part of a small delegation to the UN representing the Congressional Youth Leadership Council. This inspired him to move to New York City in 2004 to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Deepesh began his professional career in the construction industry as a Project Manager focusing on a design-build approach for commercial mission critical facilities. He built experience working for industry leading firms, such as Schneider Electric, before making a career shift into nonprofit organizations to fulfil a lifelong passion for education and service. He began as a volunteer at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ, which grew into a 12-year journey with the institution culminating as the Director of Exhibitions. Deepesh then moved to The Metropolitan Museum of Art as a Buildings Manager for Exhibitions. The Met is one of the world's premiere art institutions with thousands of objects covering 5,000 years of art, history and culture. Deepesh has been an active member in the nonprofit world for the past 15 years, and has contributed to organizations such as the American Red Cross, Kenya Wildlife Service, NJ Community Water Watch, The National Science Foundation, The Interfaith Food Pantry, FIRST Robotics and as a Global Guide for One To World for the past 10 years. In recognition of his service to the community, the Jersey City Police Department presented Deepesh with the Outstanding Civilian Award for community service in 2021. |

During her studies, she specialized in data analysis, digital marketing, and project management, mastering analytical tools to transform complex data into actionable insights. With four years of experience in marketing, Vaishnavi serves as a Marketing Analyst at Community Dreams Foundation, where she leverages her expertise to develop data-driven strategies that enhance community outreach and impact. Her professional journey includes high-impact projects with brands like Amazon and Nykaa, where she designed marketing campaigns and optimized client onboarding processes to drive measurable results. Her expertise includes market research, CRM, and social media marketing, with a focus on driving positive change. She actively mentors and participates in social impact projects, inspiring peers and future students. |
