Every year, the Learning Communities invite applicants to apply for the Peer Mentor positions for the following school year. More detailed information on the description of the position and complete roles/responsibilities of a peer mentor is provided on the application form.
Learning Communities mentors are positive role models for incoming first-year students. They aim to assist incoming students with adapting to university life as well as with their academic success. In order to be a mentor, the following requirements must be met:
Mentors must be matriculated as full-time undergraduate
NJIT students for the duration of the contract: from August to the following May
Learning Communities duties require 5-7 hours a week (on average and may vary from week to week) which is expected to take priority over other social or work commitments
Maintain good disciplinary standing with the university and a 2.5 GPA or above
