Your first step as an incoming NJIT student is obtaining your University Computing ID (UCID). In order to claim your UCID, please visit myucid.njit.edu. You may need to wait 24 hours after you receive your admissions decision to create your UCID. If you experience any issues with the creation of your UCID, please contact the NJIT Help Desk at 973-596-2900.
Once you claim your UCID you will be prompted to set up Duo Two-Factor Authentication upon next login. Here is a PDF Guide which will walk you through setting up Duo on your mobile phone. If you are having trouble reach out to the IST Service Desk at 973-596-2900 or email us at servicedesk@njit.edu .
- Go to my.njit.edu. This is your online student portal for viewing financial aid, course registration, bills and other important services.
- Set up your NJIT email account at webmail.njit.edu, you will log in with your UCID. Your NJIT email address will be the official method of communication for all correspondence from the university.
If you have not done so already, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to list NJIT’s federal school code (002621). We strongly recommend using the IRS Data Retrieval tool to avoid delays in processing. Financial aid awards are mailed to students who have filed the FAFSA. If your financial aid award gets updated (due to change in residency, academic credentials, etc.), a new financial aid packet will be accessible on your Highlander Pipeline - my.njit.edu.
Start your FAFSA now at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
For Advanced Placement (AP) credits
- For upcoming exams, select NJIT (school code 2513) to receive all of your electronic AP scores.
- For previous exams, go to CollegeBoard to send your AP score report to NJIT
- Go to the International Baccalaureate website to send your IB grades to NJIT.
- College-level courses taken while in high school require submission of an official transcript from the Registrar’s Office of the college or university that the course was through.
Once your official transcript(s) and AP/IB scores have been received, NJIT will begin the credit evaluation process. Transcripts uploaded by you as part of the admissions process are deemed unofficial. Transcripts must come directly from the previous institution(s) to NJIT.
Upon completion of your initial evaluation, you will receive an email to your NJIT email account with your Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE). This document will outline what credits were accepted by the university and how the credits will apply to your new degree. If some courses are not registered in our system as transferable, you may follow the steps within that email to request the courses to be evaluated for transfer credit consideration by the academic departments responsible for the subject.
*Please note, you will only be able to meet with an academic advisor after the TCE is complete.
It is mandatory that you speak with an advisor in order to get registered for your fall semester courses.
- You only need to attend one of the following:
- A one-on-one advising session
- Transitional Advisement Day (TAD) with OAA
- Transfer Registration Event (TRE) with NSO
Transfer students who do not receive transfer credits for the first- level of English and/or mathematics (Pre-Calculus or Calculus) are required to take the placement assessment. It is in your best interest to take your placement assessment(s) as soon as possible in order to register early and for the appropriate courses. For more information and to sign up for placement assessments, please contact placementtesting@njit.edu or call 973-596-8389.
Once you connect with your academic or transitional advisor, you will have a better idea of the classes you want to take in the upcoming semester. At this meeting, your advisor will lift your "Advisor Hold" and you may now register for classes via Highlander Pipeline -> Registration & Degree Plan -> Course Registration -> Banner Registration.
