Dr. Timothy N. Chang was a beloved husband, father, renowned innovator, and celebrated NJIT faculty member. Originally from Hong Kong, Dr. Chang immigrated to Canada before eventually settling in New Jersey. As a member NJIT’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) for nearly twenty years, Timothy earned numerous accolades, including recognition from the New Jersey Inventor’s Hall of Fame, and was named a master teacher and distinguished professor.
Upon his passing in 2011, his wife Daphne established a scholarship to preserve his extraordinary legacy. Supporting talented undergraduates in the Newark College of Engineering, the Dr. Timothy N. Chang Memorial Scholarship empowers Electrical and Computer Engineering majors to chart new legacies of innovation.
Dr. Chang was known for living life to the fullest, channeling the same focus and intensity into his love for his family as he did into his work. His impact on those around him was profound. He was not only a remarkable teacher and researcher, but also a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who touched the lives of many. Timothy’s legacy continues to influence and inspire the NJIT community, reminding everyone of the importance of dedication, kindness, and living life with purpose and passion.
