Jack Wagner ’74 - Building a Better Future: The Impact of Planned Giving
Donor Impact Stories
In 1974, Jack Wagner earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from NJIT. This accomplishment laid the foundation for Jack’s successful career and a lifelong connection to the university. Driven by a deep admiration for NJIT and a desire to give back, Jack chose to include NJIT in his estate plans by establishing the Wagner Family Scholarship through a bequest intention. This commitment will support hard-working student-athletes involved in the NJIT community, ensuring that Jack’s legacy of philanthropy will live on for decades to come.
Jack’s professional accomplishments after graduation included more than three decades as an executive at IBM, where he made significant contributions to the field of computer science and technology. In addition to his corporate career, Jack remained closely tied to NJIT by serving as an adjunct professor at MTSM, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with new generations of students.
Drawing on his experiences as both a former student and now a teacher, Jack recognized the transformative impact financial support and mentoring can have on students' lives. As an undergraduate, he was influenced by Dr. Herman Estrin and Professor Robert Swanson. Today, he is dedicated to the same type of professional development that he experienced under their guidance. With these experiences in mind, he established the Wagner Family Scholarship through a bequest intention. Complementing his long history of support to NJIT, Jack’s estate provision will provide future students with the assistance and encouragement they need to pursue their own academic and professional dreams.
