Pitching in for Success: Parent Support Fuels NJIT’s Baseball
Donor Impact Story
As the parents of a former NJIT varsity baseball player, Keith and Mindy Donnelly understand the essential resources student-athletes need to excel both physically and academically. Recognizing these needs, they stepped up to the plate and established the Donnelly Family Baseball Fund in 2023. This generous contribution has significantly impacted NJIT’s baseball team by providing new equipment, assisting with facility upgrades, and helping to attract and retain top-tier coaching staff and talented players.
This important fund has garnered support from both baseball parents and alumni, enabling the team to make crucial investments in its training program. Among these include TrackMan, a cutting-edge system for tracking player performance and improving training techniques, and PitchCom, an advanced communication device pitchers and catchers use to streamline game strategy. Thanks to the generosity of the Donnelly family and dozens of other benefactors, this multi-donor fund helped the NJIT Highlanders baseball team finish the 2024 season with 26 total wins, the second-highest in the program's history.
NJIT’s achievements in Division 1 competition are closely intertwined with our commitment to academic excellence, as demonstrated by our student-athletes maintaining a combined GPA exceeding 3.0 for over thirty straight semesters. These dedicated individuals graduate with athletic talent and the skills and discipline necessary to embark on successful and fulfilling careers in various fields. The Donnelly Family Baseball Fund exemplifies the vital support that enables our student-athletes to thrive on and off the field.
