On March 16-17, environmental engineering consultants will drill a series of small holes in the areas surrounding the Central Avenue Building (CAB) to install passive monitoring devices to support ongoing environmental surveying on campus. As these holes will be hand drilled, there will be no large equipment and no associated noise and vibration. A Public Safety officer will be on hand to observe and monitor the operation to protect members of the NJIT community as required. Prior to the initiation of the project, a state-mandated utility markout will be completed. A privately subcontracted utility survey was completed March 7. The passive monitors will remain in place for approximately two weeks, after which time they will be retrieved on Thursday, March 31 and the holes grouted and filled as appropriate.
