MS Thesis and Ph.D Dissertation Defense Announcements

 Submission of Announcement and List of Approved Defenses 

  • Please submit thesis or dissertation final defense announcement at least 3 weeks prior to the defense date (requires 2nd review of thesis/dissertation document to have been processed by GSO)
  • Submit your Embargo form to gso@njit.edu at least two weeks before the second review of your dissertation document and at least one month in advance of your defense date.
  • Once your defense announcement has been posted, you must then forward the announcement link to your department admin for distribution.
  • Your dissertation defense must be held on-campus at an NJIT location that must be included in your defense announcement. All committee members must be present during the defense. If some, not all, of the committee members cannot be present and would like to participate online, your dissertation advisor must inform Dr. Ziavras (ziavras@njit.edu) in advance of your defense.

YOU MAY SUBMIT YOUR DEFENSE ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE SECOND REVIEW OF YOUR THESIS/DISSERTATION WITH THE GRADUATE STUDIES OFFICE

University community members may attend a defense for a thesis or dissertation that is not being embargoed. 

Note: Both links on this page require an active njit.edu Google login within the browser (webmail.njit.edu).

Part of the submission must include your Abstract in PDF form. Submissions will be reviewed by Graduate Studies and you will receive a notification once approved. If changes are needed, you will be notified to do so via email.

IF YOUR THESIS OR DISSERTATION IS TO BE SEQUESTERED/EMBARGOED, DO NOT SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT BUT JUST INCLUDE "SEQUESTERED/EMBARGOED" INSTEAD OF AN ABSTRACT. ANYONE WHO WILL THEN ATTEND YOUR DEFENSE MUST SIGN THE NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT FORM AVAILABLE AT THIS LINK. DOWNLOAD THE FORM AND GIVE IT TO YOUR MAIN ADVISOR BEFORE THE DEFENSE.
