The Office of Inclusive Excellence offers several workshops and series throughout the academic year. Workshops and trainings are a fantastic means of educating students, faculty and staff.  Members of the NJIT community are encouraged to connect with us to facilitate workshops and trainings for groups, including, but not limited to, student organizations, Fraternities or Sororities, athletic teams, class sessions, and departments or offices.

Please see the comprehensive list below of existing workshops and make a request for a facilitation through the emails listed. Additional customized workshops can be created.

Safe Zone Allyship Training for Faculty and Staff: 

 

We will be offering 2 Safe Zone sessions during spring break. 

  • Thursday, March 20, 2025 In-person Session 10am - 12pm
  • Friday, March 21, 2025 Offered Virtually via Zoom 10am - 12pm

Each session will be capped as 20 participants. Participants can RSVP 

Wickedly Empowered 

Jump into the world of Wicked and find out more about who you are and how to use your unique talents for making a difference in the world. 

March 31 - Unlimited: Who Am I? Are you a good witch or a wicked witch? Who are you in this wicked world?

April 7 - Popular: Breaking the Norms What is this feeling of wanting to be popular? Loathing the norms and challenging the status quo

April 14 - Transforming For Good: Explore how to use your wicked talents for making a difference and questioning what is truly wicked.

Student who participate in all sessions will be entered into a raffle

Safe Zone Allyship Training for Students

Safe Zone is a campus-wide initiative designed to educate the Highlander community on LGBTQ+ identity, current (in)justices impacting the LGBTQ+ community, and visibly identify NJIT students, staff, and faculty who seek to support the campus' LGBTQ+ population. 

Amount of time needed: 2 hours

Cultural Appropriation vs Appreciation

Amount of time needed: 1 hours

Identity 101

This workshop explores the key aspects of personal and social identity, helping participants understand how identity shapes experiences, interactions, and perceptions. Through interactive reflective activities this workshop fosters self-awareness, empathy, and appreciation.

Amount of time needed: 1 - 1.5 hours

Power and Privilege 

This workshop delves into the concepts of privilege and power, examining their impact on individuals and society. Participants reflect on personal experiences and explore ways to promote equity and responsibility in the face of systemic power dynamics.

Amount of time needed: 1 - 1.5 hours

Emotional Intelligence and Identity 

This workshop helps students develop key skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills. Through activities like mindfulness exercises and the Emotion Wheel, participants explore how identity influences emotional experiences and learn strategies to enhance emotional intelligence for personal and academic success.

Amount of time needed: 45 minutes - 1 hour

Creating Inclusive Programming  

This workshop empowers campus leaders to create inclusive and accessible programming by providing practical tools and strategies for understanding diverse community needs, planning engaging events, and fostering an environment where all members feel valued and supported.

Amount of time needed: 1 hour

Identity and Cultural Competency  

This workshop helps participants explore their own identities and develop the skills needed to navigate diverse cultural contexts. Through interactive discussions and activities, participants will enhance their cultural awareness, learn to recognize and address biases, and gain tools to foster inclusivity and respect in both personal and professional settings.

Amount of time needed: 1 hour
