Online Courses Core Standards
Due to increased interest and demand for online courses, NJIT has initiated efforts to attend to course quality for eLearning courses with the goal of heightening student success. While this primarily focuses on asynchronous online courses, best practices are applicable across all modes of instruction.
All courses intended to be offered online, typically undergraduate courses offered in this mode to increase flexible schedules for students, are expected to meet the 10 criteria outlined in the NJIT Online Courses Core Standards. This rubric ensures that all courses meet a minimum standard and fulfill NJIT’s obligations and requirements for compliance on the state, regional, and federal levels.
Please note, the 10 Course Standards are an initial step towards continuous improvement, and not to be confused with NJIT’s Quality Assurance in eLearning rubric. The QA rubric is used to create an equitable and uniform learning experience for our fully online students, and is required for courses that are part of online programs. Most courses achieve this through a formal course development project with the Office of Online Programs.
This webinar series will provide an overview and examples of each of the 10 Core Standards in order to support instructors who want to ensure their courses are eligible to run in the online mode.
All webinars will take place via Zoom and be recorded. Please feel free to register even if you cannot attend–a copy of the recording will be emailed to you, even after the webinar has ended. (To activate your NJIT Zoom account, follow the instructions here.)
