For Faculty
Study abroad is central to NJIT’s strategic plan.
What are Faculty-Led Programs?
Faculty-led short-term study abroad programs are designed to capitalize on the international experience of our faculty and integrate classroom instruction and experiential learning activities into a carefully planned experience while maximizing the safety of students.
These courses and all coursework are held in the "world's classroom" where professors combine classroom learning with real-world experience.
What do I need to submit a proposal?
- Course numbers with sections (and CRNs if available)
- Names and contact information for both group leaders
- Itinerary with details for the location of each day (hourly is not required)
- Budget lists that include but are not limited to estimated flight costs through meal and ground transportation
- Payment Schedule
- University Partner or Provider contact information with a quote
The Office of Global Initiatives will provide you with a template to use. Please ensure the course catalog reflects these courses. Please note these items will be input on the application/contract that is sent to the students to both inform and protect them on their trip abroad.
Is there a template?
Yes, you can request a template and all forms by emailing studyabroad@njit.edu.
- The Budget and Itinerary Template is also available for use here.
Proposal Deadline for 2024-2025 Academic Year: May 22, 2024.
Full-time faculty members interested in offering a short-term study abroad trip should fill out the Faculty-led study abroad proposal and submit it to studyabroad@njit.edu for consideration.
Full-time faculty are encouraged to submit proposals that enhance the university’s offerings toward these goals. The Office of Global Initiatives will work with faculty to create the program cost budget (airfare, housing, meals, excursions and faculty travel expenses) and plan the itinerary.
