Education benefit payments are made directly to the veteran student. Full-time enrollment results in the maximum eligible benefit paid. Less than full-time status is prorated by the VA.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
Active duty or AGR soldiers who have served 2 years or more
If you are changing schools or majors, complete Form 22-1995 “Request for Change of Program or Place of Training” through va.gov
Benefits
Provides 36 full-time months of entitlement
Expires 10 years from the day of discharge or exhaustion of benefit
Student must verify attendance last day of each month by calling 888-442-4551
How to use the benefit at NJIT:
Complete a VA & Military Benefit Request
Provide your Certificate of Eligibility (the first semester you are using benefits)
Submit all items to Ms. Allison Babinski Babinski@njit.edu or drop them off at the Registrar’s Office in the Student Mall
Deadline to submit documents is 2 weeks prior to the start of class
**VA Benefits are paid based upon your attendance. Dropping a course or unsatisfactory attendance in class (you stop going) could result in a debt to the VA for benefits paid to you.
**Only degree pursuing courses will be certified to the VA. If it is not required, the VA will not consider the course.
