Teaching with XR - Call for Proposal

The "Teaching with Extended Reality (XR)" proposal aims to enhance educational experiences by integrating XR technologies into the classroom. With an increasing demand for immersive and interactive learning environments, this project will provide faculty members with the resources and support needed to incorporate XR tools into their teaching methodologies. To facilitate this integration, we propose offering 3 stipends to faculty members implementing XR into their Spring 2025 semester to serve as pioneers in the use of XR in education. Awards to faculty will be $2,000. Approximately $3,000 will be allocated for vendor implementation and hardware support which will vary based on each plan and will have a cap depending on the number of students and devices required.

• July 1, 2024: Information about the eXpeRience Workshop sessions will be posted on XR Lab page
• July 1, 2024: Call for proposals will be opened to faculty
• October 15, 2024 November 4, 2024: Deadline for submitting the Teaching with XR application form
  • This is an initial application that will be reviewed by the Office of Digital Learning (ODL). With this application, ODL will collaborate with the requester to work through logistics and finalize the proposal..
• November 18, 2024: Deadline to submit a finalized Teaching with XR plan
  • This is the finalized XR plan to be implemented into the course(s) in the Spring 2025 semester. These plans will be worked on and reviewed with ODL to determine the awardees.
  • This would include the following:
    • Original syllabus of the course & the revised syllabus
    • Schedule of XR activities including the goals of the activities and the objective they tie into
    • Vendor and application information
    • Budget requirements
  • View the rubric that will be used to evaluate finalized Teaching with XR plans.
• Assessment (assessing student learning outcomes as well as experiences will be necessary)
  • Formative Assessment: Collaborate with ODL obtain feedback from the students throughout the span of the XR implementation into the course.
  • Post-Assessment: Student surveys by the end of the course on their experience.
• Instructor Assessment
  • Post Assessment: Experience of the proposal process along with the implementation of XR
  • Presentation: Either present your experience live or through a recording.
