Ethics at NJIT
As NJIT employees, we are bound by the State’s ethics regulations which require us to act in a manner giving the public the highest degree of confidence in our integrity and credibility. For guidance, please follow the Uniform Ethics Code and NJIT's Supplemental Code of Ethics when acting on behalf of the University.
This website is intended to help NJIT employees and officers understand and comply with the State ethics regulations. The information found on this site is intended to be of general guidance; any specific questions or concerns may be directed to the NJIT Ethics Office (ethics@njit.edu), Christine S. Responsibilities
All Employees
NJIT employees are required to:
- Acknowledge they have received, have read and are bound by: New Jersey's Uniform Ethics Code, NJIT's Supplemental Code of Ethics, and Plain Language Guide;
- File an Outside Activity Questionnaire at the start of their NJIT employment and update every three years (or each time they have new outside activities to disclose);
- Annually review the ethics briefing, cannabis briefing, and undergo ethics training at the start of their employment and every three years thereafter, whether in-person or online (Once you have completed the training, enter your email to receive a receipt of completion. This receipt must be forwarded to ethics@njit.edu for you to receive credit for completion.);
- Complete a pre-approval report in Chrome River before attending off-campus and virtual events in their official capacity. If employees are to receive benefits from the off-campus or virtual event, they must obtain pre-approval. Benefits may include waived registration costs, food or merchandise mailed to the employee or continuing education credits.
- All individuals involved in the procurement process (purchasing decisions) must annually file a Personal and Business Relationships Disclosure Form.
Supervisors
All employees with supervisory responsibilities must annually file a Supervisor Conflicts of Interest Certification Form.
Faculty
All full-time faculty must annually file an Annual College and University Disclosure Form.
