The Louis Berger International Scholar Award
About the Award:
The Louis Berger International Scholar Award was established in 1997 through an endowment by the Berger family. The award is valued at over $19,000, providing support for a Master’s student for a stipend, tuition and fees. If the recipient is a doctoral student, supplemental support may be made available. Doctoral awards will only be considered for students holding a prior Master’s degree.
The award is intended for students pursuing graduate education in fields consistent with the worldwide activities of the Louis Berger Group (www.louisberger.com). These fields cover most majors offered by New Jersey Institute of Technology but students in Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Transportation, and Management will generally have preference.The award recipient must be willing to accept an internship with the Berger Group and preference may be given to a student willing to return to the home country upon completion of study.
The recipient must have a 3.0 GPA of 4.0 to apply for this award and maintain this GPA during the entire semester covered by the award.
The Application:
- Applications must be submitted by late March for the following academic year.
- Separate from the admission application materials described above, you must provide a letter directed to the NJIT Vice Provost for Graduate Studies that describes your reasons for studying in the United States, future plans to return to the home country and plans to work with an overseas affiliate of the Louis Berger group as an intern. The letter should describe goals and plans that impact your home country as benefited by your education in the United States.
