Frequently Asked Questions

If Homecoming were to be postponed, will I receive a refund?
Yes, Homecoming would be postponed to the Spring 2025 semester but families, alumni and guests would have the option of being refunded or carrying forward their registration to the new date.

Will there be on-campus parking?
Yes, families will be directed to park in our parking lot between Warren and Summit Streets.

Is there accessible parking?
Yes, please contact 973-596-3600 to request handicap accessible parking in Lot 7, adjacent to the Campus Center. 

Will food be provided?
Homecoming festivities include refreshments at our welcome, a BBQ lunch at $10 per person (children 5 and under and NJIT students are free), food vendors including an ice cream truck and donut station, and a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with a variety of food options.  Families are encouraged to explore local Newark eateries for dinner or enjoy a meal in the Campus Center Dining Hall for an additional fee. 

Do I have to register my student to attend Homecoming events?
NJIT students will be able to pick-up a wristband for the Homecoming BBQ in the Campus Center.  For all other events that require registration, we recommend that students register for those online.  These events include the following:

  • Makerspace Tour - free
  • Maple Hall Tour - Free
  • BBQ - Free
  • Beer Garden - $10 per person (21+ only)
  • Men's Soccer Game - Free

There are a number of local restaurant within walking distance that we recommend for families to explore for off-campus dining options:
