The mailroom's rate shopping technology provides a robust shipping system that will allow you to compare rates from UPS, FedEx and USPS.

Package Rate Shopping allows the mailroom to:

  • Shop for best shipping rates from multiple carriers
  • Create shipper electronic labels
  • Validate shipping addresses
  • Streamline the process by using mailroom carrier accounts
  • Provide chargeback reporting to accounting

Please fill out this form and bring it to the mailroom with your package to start the process. 

NJIT departments should NOT obtain or use individual UPS or FedEx accounts for shipping.  Any legacy accounts (previously obtained) should be cancelled and no longer used.  Departments must use the mailroom UPS FedEx accounts as they provide the best pricing available to NJIT, reduced service charges, and provides for rate shopping.  After shipping a package with the mailroom accounts, the mailroom will pay the associated shipping fees and will then charge back the department's index during the next calendar month thru an automated process in partnership with the NJIT accounting department.  In this way, departments no longer need to generate their own purchase orders for shipping.
