The property is in the northeast portion of the University Heights Neighborhood, adjacent to the northern portion of downtown. NJIT is proposing to demolish all existing buildings and improvements are to construct a landscaped plaza to be used by the University as open green space. The landscaped plaza is proposed to consist of a central seating area utilizing pavers and benches with a 6-foot wide asphalt sidewalk and a 6-foot wide stone dust sidewalk bisecting the green space. The proposed sidewalks will connect the two proposed entrances, one proposed at the intersection of Bleeker and Summit Streets, and the other at the intersection of Central Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Boulevard.
