Through its Office of Digital Learning, the Information Services & Technology (IST) Division built the XR Lab to stay true to one of its priorities: "Encourage innovation by supporting emerging technologies that will shape the future of teaching and learning.” Ultimately, by providing services and support for the use of immersive technologies in teaching and learning, the XR Lab remains in alignment with NJIT’s mission and core values.
Vision
To be a sustainable and agile emerging technology lab that offers industry-leading knowledge, expertise, and user-centric services which include curriculum integration, research support, end-user support, corporate training, custom design and development, and external consulting and collaborative partnerships.
Goals
Support teaching and learning and curriculum integration by providing access to and training for immersive technologies
Extend the XR Lab's portfolio of services to include research and special projects support, internal corporate training, and XR content design and development
Extend the XR Lab's reach across all campuses and offer consulting services to educational institutions in New Jersey
Background
Established by the IST Division's Office of Digital Learning, the XR Lab in GITC 1402 was completed in late January 2024. The XR Lab is one of the many ways the IST Division fulfills its commitment to supporting emerging technologies in teaching, learning, and research. Since the XR Lab's establishment, the number of classes and events that leverage the XR Lab has been growing.
Currently, the XR Lab in GITC 1402 is supervised by Joel Almoradie, Emerging Technologies Integration Specialist from the Office of Digital Learning.
