Integrating Authentic Research into the Classroom: A Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience in an Intro Biology Lab This session will facilitate a discussion on how to incorporate authentic scholarship into the classroom and provide an example from an introductory biology lab. Benefits and challenges of engaging students in scholarship will be emphasized. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own ideas and experiences to share. Presented by Caroline Devan |

Online grading: Lessons learned from before and during the pandemic The rapid switch to online learning in Spring 2020 forced instructors into new methods of collecting and grading student work. This presentation will explore some lessons learned in online grading procedures and discuss the pros and cons to different online grading platforms that are available to NJIT instructors. Technology-Enhanced Learning in a Math Course A multifaceted approach to promote student success will be shared. It will include course centralization on two digital platforms (Canvas including Pearson LMS integration and Microsoft ClassNotebook), ensuring early student engagement with the course tools available in Canvas and at NJIT, student accountability by creating small daily assignments and other increased student interactions with the course material and embedding that into the lecture, and making Office Hours count (a higher student attendance).
