Problems / Delayed Package Deliveries/Damaged Packages
Problems:
- If you experience any problems, please reply to the automated email that the system sends to you, or contact the mailroom directly.
- If the package you receive is not yours, please return it to the NJIT mailroom for proper delivery.
- The US Postal Service in Newark is known to send their own delivery notifications one to four days before a package actually arrives on campus. As such, please wait one to four days to receive an email from our system for pickup at the lockers.
- After waiting four days, if you suspect that a delivery is missing, please contact the NJIT mailroom with the following:
- The package Tracking Number (which is provided by the company or person who is sending the package)
- The Shipping Carrier (examples: UPS, FedEx, USPS, Amazon, etc)
- The name and address that the package is addressed to (if known)
- The name and address that the package is from (if known)
- The approximate size and weight of the package (if known)
- Recipients should inspect their packages at the time of pickup at the lockers (or mailroom).
- Take clear pictures of the damage before opening the package (including the barcode).
- Upon opening, if the contents are indeed damaged, take clear pictures of that damage as well.
- Contact the shipper to report the damage, as they will coordinate any inquiries with the shipper’s carrier. If documented well, the recipient may have the opportunity to receive compensation from the shipper or their contracted carrier.
- If you need help, please contact the mailroom who will attempt to help you as best we can.
- The mailroom or NJIT is not responsible for damages to packages or their content before arriving at the mailroom.
