What to do if you are missing your package?

The first step is to track your package on the courier’s website.  To do this, you will need to ask the company that shipped your package what the tracking number is.  This tracking will show you where in the delivery process your package is.

If the tracking states that your package was delivered to the NJIT mailroom, but the mailroom states that they did not received it, please perform the steps outlined below:

Incoming Packages

FedEx

The shipper of the package should contact FedEx via their website ( www.fedex.com) or their customer service # 1.800 GoFedEx (1-800-463-3339) and open up a package trace. The shipper will be provided a reference # which you should ask them for

FedEx will require the following information

  • Tracking #
  • Shipper
  • Recipient
  • Description of lost item
  • Shipped via ( i.e. Express, Ground etc.)

UPS

Starting a claim can be done by either the Shipper or Receiver, but the preference is for the shipper to submit. Here are a couple of options to submit a claim:

UPS will require the following information

  • Tracking #
  • Shipper
  • Recipient
  • Description of lost item
  • Shipped via (i.e.Express, Ground etc.)

DHL

The shipper of the package should contact DHL via their website ( www.DHL.com) or their customer service #  1 (800) 225-5345.  You have 30 days to file a claim

DHL will require the following information

  • Tracking #
  • Shipper
  • Recipient
  • Description of lost item

Amazon

Customers have up to 90 days to report a missing package.
This can be done between 14 and 90 days of purchase via Amazon's website.

  1. Sign in to Amazon and go to your Order List.
  2. Next to the item that hasn't been received, click "View/File Claim."

You can also contact your local USPS post office. Make sure you contact your LOCAL post office, and not the USPS hotline. Your local post office will be able to provide quicker, and better service. Ask who delivered the package, and ask for the details of that day's delivery
